Applicable Bag Types and Sealing Methods for elinpack
For bulk powder manufacturers producing food ingredients, nutritional powders, fine chemicals and feed additives, selecting the right bag type and sealing method is a foundational step in packaging development. The performance of the bag structure, sealing form and packaging material will interact with powder properties, filling, degassing, handling and storage processes. Many production teams evaluate multiple bag styles and sealing options to align packaging with their production workflow and product specifications.
The
elinpack ABP-580 Automatic Open-Bag Bottom-Up Packing System supports flexible compatibility with multiple bag styles and sealing combinations. Our capability to tailor bag and sealing setups for different powder characteristics has earned the trust of global industry leaders including Cargill and iff. This guide outlines the applicable bag options and sealing modes supported by the ABP-580 platform, together with widely recognised physical characteristics of these packaging formats for your reference during evaluation.

Main Bag Types Supported by ABP-580

The system supports two flat-top sack formats for 25kg bulk powder packaging: flat top square bottom bags and flat top V-bottom bags. Other
bag styles such as single-layer PE bags are available as optional selections.
  • Flat top square bottom bag
The square bottom construction forms a rectangular base once filled. In general packaging practice, this structure helps the filled sack maintain a regular, upright shape after filling and degassing. This consistent profile is widely considered suitable for pallet stacking and automated warehouse handling workflows.
  • Flat top V-bottom bag
The V-shaped bottom design creates a different internal base geometry. Within the bulk powder packaging industry, this structure allows more room for powder settlement during filling and degassing, which is commonly considered suitable for a broad range of fine powder materials.
Both bag styles can be used together with the degassing module of the ABP-580 system to remove trapped air inside powder sacks. Air removal
helps reduce bag bulging and lowers the risk of bag damage during transit.
In addition, two inner liner length configurations are available for these double-layer sack structures: inner and outer bag with equal length, and inner liner extends beyond outer bag. The selection of inner liner layout depends on sealing requirements and moisture barrier standards of your powder products.

Three Standard Sealing Methods

elinpack provides three available sealing methods for selection. Each sealing setup delivers different performance on tightness, contamination control and ease of opening, to match different product requirements:
  1. Inner bag heat sealing–outer bag folded edge with easy-tear hot-melt tape.
This sealing solution eliminates stitching holes and thread debris. It is widely adopted in food-grade powder packaging for applications that require good barrier performance and convenient unpacking.
  1. Inner bag heat sealing–outer bag folded edge and stitched.
This is a conventional sealing form for bulk sacks. The inner heat seal provides primary protection, while outer stitching is a mature, widely adopted closing method for general powder packaging.
  1. Inner bag heat sealing–outer bag stitched with hot-melt tape.
This configuration adds hot-melt tape reinforcement on the stitched outer bag, improving sealing integrity compared to stitching alone.

Conclusion

There is no universal bag type or sealing method that fits all bulk powder applications. The optimal choice depends on your powder bulk density, hygroscopicity, storage environment, palletizing method and end-user unpacking habits.
The elinpack ABP-580 automatic bottom-up packing system supports flexible matching of bag structure and sealing process, together with integrated degassing to produce flat-stable 25kg powder sacks. Our platform is designed to adapt to varied packaging requirements rather than locking customers into one fixed packaging format. Whether you process food fermentation powders, fine chemical powders or feed raw materials, elinpack can configure a packaging combination to match your production requirements.
